Wear Capsule (“Capsule”) is run by Alastair Greenway, Bretton, Wycombe Rd, Studley Green, Buckinghamshire HP14 3XA (“we”). We are the controller of your personal data under UK data protection law. Questions, or requests to see, correct or delete your data: hello@wearcapsule.app.

01

What we keep

  • Your Google sign-in: your name, email address and Google account id.
  • Photos of your clothes and labels, and what Capsule reads from them.
  • Your style profile, if you fill it in, and the town you give for the weather.
  • If you turn on the morning email, the address it goes to (the one you sign in with).
  • Your looks, what you thought of them, what you wore and when, and what you paid or sold things for if you tell us.
  • If you use Ask Capsule: your questions and its answers, so a question can follow on from the last. Start again deletes them.
  • If you add a piece from a shop's page or forward an order email: the shop's photo, the page address, and the name, colour, size and price of each piece. A forwarded email is read once and deleted from our mailbox; we keep no address, payment details or order number from it, and pieces you have not saved are removed after 30 days.
  • If you are a member: your plan and its status. Stripe holds your card details; we never see them.
  • If you ask for an invitation: your email address, anything you tell us about what you wear, and which member sent you, if one did.
  • If you are invited: your email address, who invited you and when you accepted. A member who shares their invite link sees how many people used it, never who.

02

Why

To run the service you asked for: reading your clothes, dressing you from them, and the features you use. That is the lawful basis, a contract with you. We also record what each feature costs us to run, against your account, so we can price membership fairly.

03

What we measure

Inside the app we record which days you open it and a few moments, such as finishing the welcome or reaching the free limit, so we can see what helps people and what does not. It is kept with your account, looked at only in totals, and never shared or used for advertising. Nothing is stored on your device for this. On the public pages (the landing page and sign-in) Vercel Web Analytics counts visits without cookies or personal identifiers.

When something breaks, we keep a short record of the error: the page it happened on and the error message. It is not linked to your account, and we delete it after 30 days.

04

Who else handles it

  • Vercel hosts the app and stores your photos privately, in London.
  • Neon hosts the database, in London.
  • Anthropic's Claude reads your photos and writes your looks, listings and searches. Under its commercial terms your data is not used to train its models.
  • Google's Gemini makes cut-outs and See it on images, on a paid plan under which your photos are not used to improve Google's products.
  • Find it online sends the description of a piece to Anthropic's web search. Your photos are not sent.
  • Stripe takes payments for membership.
  • IONOS sends our emails: invitations, the note that you are on the list, and the morning email if you turn it on. It also holds order emails you forward to add@wearcapsule.app until Capsule reads them (at most a week).
  • Anthropic's Claude reads a forwarded order email's text to find the pieces in it.
  • Open-Meteo gives us the weather. It receives the town you give us, or a trip's destination, with its map position and dates. It never receives your name or email address.
  • Google signs you in.

Some of these companies may process data outside the UK, under the safeguards UK law requires.

05

What we never do

We never sell your data, never use it for advertising, and never take commissions on what you buy. If we ever share findings about how long clothes last, they will be added up across many members so that no one can be picked out, and only if you have agreed.

06

How long we keep it

For as long as you have an account. If you only asked for an invitation, we keep your address until you ask us to delete it. Delete a piece and its photos go with it. Delete your account from your profile and everything goes at once, including your photos. You can also email hello@wearcapsule.app and we will do it within 30 days. Backups of the database and photos are kept for 30 days, so something you delete is gone from them within 30 days. Payment records are kept for six years because the law requires it.

07

Your rights

You can download a copy of your wardrobe, looks and wear log yourself, any time, from your profile. You can also ask to see your data, correct it, delete it, or object to how we use it. If you are unhappy with our answer you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
